Find and view depositional analogues
Subsurface geological interpretations are typically based on limited data. Well density is rarely sufficient to directly resolve stratigraphic architecture, which can significantly impact fluid flow. Much of this architecture also falls below the resolution of seismic data.
Depositional analogues are essential tools for making geologically sound assumptions in the subsurface.
They illustrate the architectural complexity that is commonly associated with natural environments and is likely present in your reservoir.
Use the extensive analog datasets available in our View Analog and Dimensional Data application to identify relevant examples of depositional systems that may occur in your reservoir. Sedbase includes analogs for:
- Hundreds of Holocene regional-scale deposits (plan view)
- Hundreds of modern mouth bar deposits (plan view)
- Thousands of mapped modern channel belts (plan view)
- Tens of thousands of modern channel inflection points (plan view and depth)
- Ancient cross-sectional data in case studies with mapped hierarchical architecture
