Modern systems analogue dataset

The Sedbase Modern System dataset is designed to help identify suitable modern analogs for the subsurface.

It currently includes 336 Holocene system analogues, each with a geomorphological map and compiled metadata. These analogs represent key deltaic, estuarine, and non-fluvial coastal systems from around the world.

Each system includes a geomorphological map and detailed metadata, which is used to filter systems based on qualitative and quantitative parameters.

The map below, from Sedbase's View Analog and Dimensional Data application, uses the process metadata field to color-code systems by dominant process at the coastline: orange for tide-dominated, yellow for wave-dominated, and brown for fluvial-dominated.
